Newton Food Centre

Welcome to Newton Food Centre, a culinary gem nestled at 500 Clemenceau Ave N, Singapore 229495. As a food reviewer, I can confidently say that this iconic hawker centre stands as a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike. With its buzzing atmosphere, the centre's hexagon shape frames a bustling open-air dining space that is ideal for enjoying a plethora of local delicacies.

Your taste buds are in for a treat at Newton Food Centre, especially if you have a penchant for satay. The extensive menu features scrumptious options like:

  • Sa-Tay Sets: Catering for large gatherings, the XLarge Set serves up to 810 pax, offering a delectable assortment of chicken, mutton or beef satays, BBQ prawns, and even BBQ squids.
  • Ala Carte Hits: Do not miss the charcoal grilled chicken satays, with 50 sticks at $58, alongside other crowd favorites like BBQ wings and tripe satays.

As I strolled through the food court, I was captivated by the diverse culinary offerings, from melt-in-your-mouth BBQ prawns to spicy, flavorful dishes perfect for indulging in a feast with family and friends. Customer reviews echo the sentiment, with one diner, Brian Loye, remarking on the delightful flavors and generous portion sizes. The texture and layers of flavors in each dish transport diners back to the heart of Singapore's hawker culture.

While the food is extraordinary, the ambiance at Newton Food Centre is equally enchanting. The lively crowd, humming conversations, and the occasional visit from friendly wildlife create an invigorating dining experience. Bernice C describes the centre as having a “lively atmosphere,” enhanced by recent upgrades that include large fans and waterproof blinds, ensuring a comfortable experience even on rainy evenings.

Newton Food Centre is more than just a food court; it is a celebration of the rich culinary heritage of Singapore. Whether you’re eyeing the spice-laden stingray cooked with sambal or the deep-fried glazed squid, each dish is a testament to the local flavors nurtured over the years. As my fellow diners emphasized, it is truly an experience not to be missed.

So, come celebrate the joy of food with me at Newton Food Centre, where every bite is a souvenir of Singapore’s vibrant street food scene. Your taste buds will thank you!

Good satay if you go to the right shop. Had many dishes there this recent visit and none disappointed. All great flavour and portion size is good.

I chose this place for dinner because it’s close to our hotel, the dining area is bustling, and it’s very crowded in the evening. However, the prices are affordable, and it’s convenient and quick services when you’re hungry.

This is one of the most famous food centers in the area. To welcome me, a hornbill dropped by for left over food. I have been coming over to this place for the past 30 years. The building is hexagon shape. The area in the middle is open air. No one wants to sit outside during monsoon season but it is the best place to chill and dine in seafood in the evening with friends and family. There are a lot of shops that sell variety of food. The hygiene is acceptable. The toilet is reasonably clean. There is a parking lot beside the food center. I enjoy my lunch here. It is very nostalgic to be back here after 30 years.

My friend took me here, to get me to try as many local dishes as possible in one go, which turned into a feast. I liked all the dishes, but my favorites were the stingray with sambal, carrot cake and deep fried glazed sqiud (?). Delicious flavors and interesting textures all around. If I lived in Singapore, I'd certainly be eating out at hawker centers all the time. To the surprise of no one, there was a lot leftovers, but they were nice enough to pack everything to go.
